A Perfect 24 Hours

If you could design the most perfect 24 hours, what would your perfect day look like? What does it feel like? Does is start with sunshine pouring into open windows, as the breeze gently coaxes the curtains. Or does it start with rolling thunder and the smell of rain in the countryside? Are you staying in one place or are your having breakfast at Tiffany's in NYC and lunch in South East Asia. Irregardless of time or space, what is your perfect day? My dream day starts in Africa.

Irregardless of time or space, what is your perfect day?

My dream day starts in Africa.

5:45 AM Hot Air Balloon Ride South Africa. I have never felt so free in my life, as I did souring above the cradle of Humankind in Johannesburg, South Africa.  I am terrified of heights, but was so taken aback by the beauty and serene views that nothing else mattered.  Our group arrived on site and we were offered coffee, tea and chocolate prior to our lift off.  Once we ascended, the lighting was impeccable (perfect for pics) and the sun was beaming, leaving us in awe as we looked out over the terrain.  Once we landed, there was a tradition of a champagne toast, while waving the South African flag.

Brunch, Blue Duck tavern

Brunch, Blue Duck tavern

9:30 AM Brunch at Blue Duck Tavern. I am in love with the brunch buffet at Blue Duck Tavern. My must have is the spinach and gruyere cheese quiche. Then it is a toss up between the roasted wild mushrooms with garlic confit and sherry parsley and white corn grits with fiscalini cheese.

12:00 PM Mid-Day Ride at Soul Cycle. I would rather workout in the morning, but as long as I can get in a spin class I am a happy woman. The workout at soul cycle takes your breath away as you are inspired to work outside of your comfort zone, all the while feeding you with inspirational messages to keep you going.

1:00 PM Lunch at Gus Taco in Cabo San Lucas. There is a hole in the wall taco stand in an unmarked street in Mexico, that sells the best authentic tacos. I enjoyed the corn tortillas, homemade by a woman who looks like she invented the recipe. They also give you all you can eat toppings, including, pink pickled onions and fresh jalapenos, on a festively Mexican painted platter.

2:00 PM Lion King in NYC on Broadway. Hands down my favorite show ever. I had a season pass to the Performing Arts Center in Durham, but never was I moved to tears during a performance. Not until I saw the Lion King in NYC Thanksgiving Weekend 2017. I will see this again and I will again be amazed by the music, dancing, costumes and engaging performance.

Oak Creek, Sedona AZ

Oak Creek, Sedona AZ

6:00 PM Massage and facial La'Aburge Spa Sedona Arizona. In Sedona, there is a hotel next the  bank of Oak Creek with the best spa. This is the only place where I was able to sit next a crystal clear creek, in my own adirondack chair, with a glass of wine and see humming birds among the trees. Remember this is prior to your massage. After my relaxing treatment I did not forget to make my own body scrub at the l'apothecary blending station to take home.

8:30 PM Dinner in Asheville, NC at Chestnut and hot chocolate at French Broad Chocolate Lounge. I was here in 2013 for NYE and it was the best meal that I can ever remember to date. Even better was the friendly staff and ease of getting a last minute reservation. Not to be missed was the chic but welcoming atmosphere and the charming couple that was raving about what a wonderful town Asheville has been in their retirement.

10:30 PM Drinks on a rooftop in NYC with friends and Family. I can't say that I have found my favorite rooftop in NYC, but this would be the best place to be on a cool summer evening.

I am getting chills just thinking about my perfect 24 hours.  Tell me what you would do, given the opportunity!
